~Additional Info about Spiritual Psychic Development Classes at Sunset~

Dear Friend, Welcome to the info page for Cynthia’s “Spiritual Psychic Development” classes.  Cynthia is so glad that you have come!  Everything happens for a reason…it’s no accident that you have arrived at this page at this point in time.  When the student is ready, the teacher appears.  If you are reading this now, more than likely, it is time for you to grow deeper in your spiritual-psychic awareness.
Developing your psychic ability is like any other skill—it takes time and practice.  Even if you are a “natural-born” psychic like Cynthia, you will probably have to work to refine your spiritual abilities before they can be of any practical use to yourself or others.  Most of all, you will need to work to refine yourself, so that you can be a better, clearer channel for your inner psychic and your higher self.  The development classes that Cynthia offers give you an opportunity to do this delightful work of the soul.

There are 3 main kinds of psychics:  Gifted, Acquired, and Developed.  If you are a “gifted” psychic, then you were probably just born with a conscious ability to see spirits, predict the future, or sense energy. If you are an “acquired” psychic, then you acquired your gifts through a traumatic experience, such as being struck by lightning, near-death experience, or a difficult illness.  If you are a “developed” psychic, then your psychic awareness is awakened through spiritual growth and meditation.

It is possible to be a combination of more than one psychic type.  For example, some natural-born psychics also experienced severe physical trauma in childhood, so it is likely that they are both “gifted” and “acquired” psychics.  Really, all of us who are on the spiritual-psychic path are “developed” psychics, because even natural-born or acquired psychics must strengthen and refine their gifts in order to make use of them.

Regardless of which kind of “psychic type” you are, it is just a matter of first awakening then refining your natural born gifts.

Everyone has an inner psychic, including you.  One of the fastest (and easiest) ways to awaken your inner psychic is to study with a spiritual teacher who has already unleashed her innate spiritual abilities, and can help you to do the same.  Even if you have already begun developing your gifts, you can still go further by practicing new techniques and exposing yourself to broader perspectives.  Wherever you are at on your spiritual-psychic path, these monthly “spiritual-psychic development” classes with Cynthia give you an opportunity to go deeper, and to become a more accomplished psychic, medium, or channeler.

MORE INFO
Classes are held once a month on a Saturday from 2 to approximately 5:30 pm at Sunset Spiritualist Church & Camp in Wells.  After class, we break for a potluck dinner, and then at about 7:15 pm, we hold a “Development Circle”, which give students an opportunity to practice giving messages & using the skills we covered earlier in the day.  Developmental Circles are led by Cynthia or by one of her more advanced students.  Even if you are not planning to stay for the later Developmental Circle, please plan on staying for the potluck dinner, as you are likely to be quite *ravenous* after an afternoon of psychic development.

These classes are for anyone who wants to go deeper with his or her spiritual psychic abilities.  These classes are particularly recommended for anyone who needs help developing the mediumship skills necessary for official certification or ordination through Sunset Church, or who otherwise wants to practice in a professional capacity as a psychic, medium, channeler, or intuitive reader.   Students at any level of skill are welcome to attend.  All that is necessary is a sincere desire to learn and a willingness to participate in the class exercises.
Students with no previous psychic development experience may find the classes challenging.  However, there are review materials available for purchase should you need help "catching up".  Also, new students are likely to receive much helpful support from the many long-term students who have been coming since the inception of these class in Summer 2009.
At the present moment, classes are open to anyone who wants to attend and there are no class limits.  Pre-registration is currently not required, and you can come to just one class or as many as you’d like.  This may change as the class grows and expands, especially once the class has become full with regularly-attending students.  For now, “enrollment” is come and go as you please.  Addendum:  As of September 2011, we are quickly approaching maximum class size.  We STRONGLY recommend pre-registering if you are planning to attend, or otherwise we may not be able to guarantee your spot in the class.

As mentioned above, pre-registration is not required.  However, Cynthia wouldn’t mind knowing if you plan on coming, and learning a little bit about you so that she can better serve you as a teacher.  If you have the time in advance, please take a moment to fill out the brief “pre-registration” form by clicking HERE.  Completing this form will provide Cynthia with your contact info, so that you can receive any class updates, class reviews or any other supplemental information that is e-mailed out before class.  Pre-registering by Noon on the Monday before class also ensures that you will receive complimentary copies of any materials distributed during class.  If you don’t have time to fill out the “pre-registration” form before you come, or if you just end up coming on the “spur of the moment”, that’s OK too.  You may not receive the “pre-homework” or any advance handouts, but you are still welcome to show up & attend.  Cynthia only runs a few extra sets of class materials each time, so if getting the class materials are important to you, make sure that you pre-register, preferably no later than Noon on the Monday before class, or as close to that as you can.

THE FINE DETAILS
Classes are held once a month on a Saturday from 2 to approximately 5:30 pm at Sunset Spiritualist Church & Camp in Wells.   About an hour or so after class lets out, a simple dinner will be served.  The Church will provide the main dish, and the rest of us who are staying for dinner should bring a salad, snack, side dish, desert, or alternative main dish to add to the meal.
Sometime after dinner (usually between at 7:10 or 7:15), we gather together and divide into groups for our “Development Circles” or "Seances".  This is an opportunity for those of us who are in the class (or developing on our own) to practice the skills that we are learning by attempting to get & give messages in a “circle” type setting.  The Developmental Circle typically lasts about an hour to an hour & a half.
After that, it’s off to home or bed, or perhaps time for a little late-night socializing under the pavilion with other spiritually-minded folks.  If you’re staying on the grounds, there will be a simple breakfast served the following morning, followed by Sunday school at 10 am, and a good old-fashioned Spiritualist church service (complete with messages from the other side or healing) at 11 am.   In addition to our "regular" class weekend events described above, there is often a Friday night "warm-up" class taught by one of Cynthia's advanced students on the Friday before class.
You can make an afternoon, an evening, an “overnighter”, or even a weekend of this event.  You’re welcome to just come to the class from 2 to 5:30 pm if you’d like.  You’re also welcome to join us for dinner, even if you’re not staying over night or joining us for the evening developmental circle. (And when we have a "warm-up" class on Friday, you are also welcome to begin your weekend with us on Friday night.)
If you do want to stay overnight (on either Friday or Saturday), Sunset has both camping & rustic cabins available.  The cabins do have air conditioning but do not have heat, so if you anticipate cooler weather during your stay, please bring warm bedding and a space heater.  Once you are registered for a class, you can reserve a cabin in advance if you want (recommended).  Sometimes you can also just show up and get a cabin on the day of class, if it is a weekend when all of the cabins have not already been reserved in advance.  If it is important for you to have a cabin for either Friday or Saturday of class weekend, it is recommended that you make reservations (once you are registered, you will receive the info you need to do this.)  Sunset graciously offers lodging for class weekends on a donation basis (see below for more info).

COSTS
SATURDAY CLASS:  The complete cost for “Spiritual Psychic Development” is just $20 a class, payable by check or cash on the day of class.  (Please make checks payable to:  "Cynthia Killion".)  This fee is only about 10-20% of what Cynthia normally charges for her afternoon psychic workshops.  Cynthia is a minister of Sunset Spiritualist Church and has been involved in spiritualism for over a decade.  Therefore, teaching these classes at Sunset at this reduced-rate is part of her ministry and is a way for her to “give back” to a spiritual community that has given so much to her.  The $20 fee is for the entire day and includes access to BOTH parts of the class, both the formal "classroom/lecture" portion, as well as the optional "developmental circles" that follow in the evening.
Friday Warm-Up Class:  Sometimes (though not always) during a class weekend, there is also a Friday night "warm-up" class taught by one of Cynthia's advanced students from about 7-8:30 pm on the Friday night of class weekend.  There is no set fee for this class.  However, Cynthia does ask that if at all possible, if you attend the Friday night "warm-up" class, it would be nice if you could add a little extra into your donation to the church for the weekend. (Please note that meals are NOT provided for either Friday evening, or Saturday morning or lunch.  So if staying over on Friday night, you may wish to bring a couple of simple meals to eat for yourself.  However, Saturday dinner and Sunday morning breakfast ARE provided.)

MEALS:  There is no set cost for either Saturday night potluck or Sunday morning breakfast.  However, Cynthia asks that if at all possible, you do help compensate the church for their work in putting together these meals for you by making a donation.  You can make a donation directly in the dining hall when you take your meals, or give your donation to any church member present.    More info on meals:  The church provides the main dishes & drinks for our dinner on Saturday night potluck, as well as a simple breakfast for us on Sunday morning (for those of us who are staying over).  There is no fee for staying for Saturday dinner, although Cynthia does ask if at all possible, you bring a salad, snack, beverage, side dish, desert or other “treat” to share with the rest of the group during the Saturday dinner.  Also, if you have special dietary needs (such as vegan, vegetarian, or low-carb), please make sure that you bring something that you can eat, so that you can be comfortable during your stay on the grounds.

LODGING:  Cabins (or tent camping) are offered to you on a donation basis.  If you’re staying for church Sunday morning, you can simply drop your donation in the offering bucket when it’s passed.  If not, you can leave your “token of appreciation” with someone who is staying.  Whether you have a little or a lot to give, you are welcome to stay and fellowship with us.

  About the Location
Sunset Spiritualist Church and Camp has a very rich history.  It is located in Wells, Kansas, a tiny farming community that traces its Spiritualist roots back to around 1871.  Wells is about 30 minutes north of Salina (KS) or about 2 hours north of Wichita (Take highway 135 to where the freeway ends…literally…and then follow Limestone road east to Wells.)
Like all great mystery-school locations, it is off the beaten path.  Probably no matter where you live, you will have to travel a little ways to get to these classes.  But no worry…at the end of your travels, you will be greeted by good times & friends who will make your travels worthwhile.  Your willingness to make the journey demonstrates your commitment to the spiritual-psychic path.  The good news is that class doesn't start until 2 pm on Saturday, so you will have plenty of time to get there, whether you are coming from Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma, Nebraska, or some other part of the country.
Also, like all great mystery-school locations, the accommodations at Sunset are rustic, though not primitive.  The cabins have air conditioning but no heaters.  You will need to bring your own bedding & towels.  You will have to go “down the path” to the shared bathrooms & showers when nature calls.  If the cabins fill up, then you are welcome to camp, or to stay at a motel or hotel in one of the towns down the road.
Since there are no restaurants in Wells, on-site meals are served in a handicap-accessible basement dining hall that, thank God, is air-conditioned & heated and equipped with its own bathroom.  The sanctuary (where church & classes are usually held) also has central air conditioning & heat.  When people want to socialize in between classes & meals, they usually gather under the outdoor pavilion.
There are no convenience stores or Walmarts in the town of Wells.  The nearest grocery store is probably about 15 miles away; the nearest Wal-Mart more like 25 or 30 miles away.  Even still, if you come properly prepared, you will probably be able to enjoy a very relaxing stay at peaceful Sunset Church & Camp.
To learn more about Sunset Camp, including where it is located, please go to:  www.sunsetcamp.org.  If you have questions about accommodations at Sunset Camp, or need directions, please contact the church secretary Linda Anderson at (620) 727-4329 or lindaanderson4825@sbcglobal.net.
